Poulain With respect to tradition
|
|
|
The enterprise Poulain began its activity in Athens in 1978, as manufacturer of children's clothing. The love and the respect of her householders, Dimitri and Emilia Giannopoulou, for tradition, led them to the manufacture of traditional costumes. Today, in the area of Saint Theodoros in Pyrgos, they manufacture traditional costumes that are true replicas of the authentic costumes, originating from all areas of Greece. Having as their source the Museum Benaki and also the appreciable experience of known endymatologist Ioannna Papantoniou, they study tradition, and the result is that costumes that are manufactured are exact replicas ofthe original costumes. With detail given to the fabrics used, the embroideries and the symbolisms they have accomplished at the moment of writing to hold in their cloakroom roughly 1000 traditional costumes that are considered real masterpieces.

| According to Mrs
Emilia Giannopoulou,
the objective is the rescue of our
cultural heritage as through the variety
and the polymorph of costumes appears the
history and the particularity of each area of
Greece. The activities of enterprise are extended beyond the limits of the prefecture covering the needs of various associations, for various cultural events. Of course it is particularly encouraging that in the past few years there has been a turn towards tradition, with a permanently increasing number of associations that deals with tradition. The manufacture, having in her disposal a big number of uniforms, has the possibility of covering any need of market or renting of uniforms from associations. |
